Oven-baked Pork Meatballs
Oven-baked pork meatballs with homemade sweet and sour chili sauce!
Ingredients
For the Meatballs:
- 1/2 kilo lean ground pork
- 1/4 kilo shrimp, peeled and minced
- 1/2 cup onion, minced
- 1/2 cup celery, finely minced
- 1/2 cup carrot, minced
- 7 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 medium eggs
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
For the Sauce:
- 4 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoon banana ketchup
- pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoon cornstarch
Procedure
For the meatballs, in a large bowl, mix ground pork, minced shrimp, onion, celery, carrot, soy sauce, eggs, salt, pepper and all-purpose flour.
In a baking sheet/pan lined with aluminum foil, form the mixture into balls.
Bake in 170 C for 30 minutes or until it is cooked and golden brown. You may need to increase the temperature when it is almost done to make the meatballs crunchy on the outside. Serve hot with homemade sweet and sour chili sauce (see procedure below) and minced parsley on top.
For the homemade sweet and sour chili sauce, combine rice vinegar, water, sugar, banana ketchup, cornstarch and salt in a small sauce pan. Stir and bring to boil or until it thickens.
