Don’t you think it’s about time to put a spotlight on Filipino desserts? For our maiden #panghimagasseries post, the honor goes to the dessert close to every Filipino’s hearts (and sweet tooth!) We chose Ube Halaya because the amount of passion that one gives in preparing this quintessential Filipino dessert is tantamount to the quality of its outcome.
We bought about 1 kilo raw Ube and spent roughly 2 hours of preparation, which these container-full of purple yuminess. As always, kakang gata (coconut cream) was freshly extracted (Is it obvious that we hate canned variants? :p ) We made sure not to overdo the level of sweetness to bring out the authentic Ube flavor. After all, Ube is the star that deserves the attention, not the sugar ๐ A generous topping of homemade Latik adds a light toasted coconut aroma that’s sure to whet your appetite.
